Centre of Structural Integrity (CESTI) was established to contribute a further development of Technical University of Opole (TUO) as an international research Centre. The overall aim and aspirations of the Centre is its integration into the European Research Area (ERA).The mission of CESTI is development research and dissemination of knowledge in:

In the second year of CESTI activity, national conferences with participation of foreign specialists were organised: Symposium on Fatigue of Materials and Structures (SFMS) - Bydgoszcz, April 2004, Conference on Research Problems in Civil Engineering (CRPCE), Krynica, September 2004. One PhDs have been promoted. 25 missions to partner institution and workshop visits abroad were organised and were connected with participating at conferences, summer schools and setting up new co-operation with other research centres and promotion of CESTI as well.

Within CESTI, cyclic open Local Seminars on Structural Integrity ( LSSI) are held every week at DMMD TUO. During the meetings, lectures and papers which refer to scientific activity of the Centre are presented 38 seminars have been taken so far). Moreover, a competition was announced and decided for the postgraduate students of FME and FCE to co-finance their participation at national and international conferences ( 4 visits to conference participation have been financially supported).

Within the CESTI activity 3 proposals for FP6 and 1 for INTAS were prepared and submitted. The brochures on CESTI were drawn up, the web site on CESTI is active ( where detailed information about the TUO Centre are presented. Posters and folders of fatigue stands and machines operated at DMMD TUO laboratories were printed and distributed. Also the promotion materials were prepared in order to exhibit fatigue stands.

Within the CESTI activity the stands of CAD/CAM Laboratory and Fatigue and Fracture Mechanics Laboratory at DMMD TUO were modernised. A new prototype of the strength machine for fatigue tests of materials under combined bending with torsion has been designed.

To promote and disseminate the research results of Centre, 5 books and monographs, 7 proceedings of conferences and 76 papers were published.
