XV-ICMFM 2010 will take place in Opole – one of the oldest Polish cities, located in the south-west part of Po-land upon the Odra River. It is the capital of the Opole Region and its cultural, economic, academic and scien-tific center. The city has several scientific-research insti-tutes and a number of universities and colleges. The institutions of higher education create both scientific and cultural colours of the city. Its rich and wide spectrum of higher education institutions enroll a total of 35 000 stu-dents. One of the best known monuments in the Opole Region is the palace in Moszna. The fairy-tale castle and park complex is the former residence of the German Tiele-Winckler family. This gigantic 7,000 square and 63,000 cubic meter construction was started in the 17th century and has many rooms and turrets. It is reminiscent of the English castles from the Elizabethan period. Opole is also the capital of Polish Song. Each year the National Festival of Polish Song takes place – the event gathers the greatest stars of Polish music scene performing and competing for the prestigious awards.
